July 8th, Thursday, Day 2 After arriving in Dublin, we collect our luggage and pass through customs on our way to the motor coach for boarding. We then do a “highlights” tour of Dublin on our way to the hotel for some relaxation before dinner. We probably won't get into our hotel rooms until the afternoon so you'll have time to explore popular attractions nearby. The hotel is just a short and pleasant walk from many popular attractions such as St. Stephens Green, Temple Bar, and Grafton Street - one of Dublin's most prestigious and fashionable shopping areas. We enjoy a welcome ‘get together’ before dinner in our hotel.

July 9, Friday, Day 3 After breakfast, you’ll have some time to look around Dublin on your own before we make our way to Glendalough (Valley of the Two Lakes) in Co. Wicklow for a guided tour – it’s a fascinating monastic settlement in a spectacular natural setting. This early Christian settlement, founded by St. Kevin in the 6th century is set in a glaciated valley with 2 lakes. The monastic remains include a round tower, stone churches and decorated crosses and various sites associated with the life of St. Kevin. Next, we’ll make our way to Enniscorthy Castle – it’s in the middle of town next to the Slaney River. Eight hundred years after it was built, the castle is still standing. There are three drum towers which flank the castle. Next, we’ll visit the National 1798 Visitor Centre. The experience starts outside the building by crossing ‘the bridge to democracy’. You’ll experience pre-revolutionary Europe, the Irish context, the United Irishmen, the battles in May & June 1978, Vinegar Hill and the aftermath. Our last stop of the day will be Vinegar Hill where you will find the stump of an old windmill on top of a hill overlooking the town. During the Rebellion of 1798, the Irish, led by Fr. Murphy, camped on the hill and flew their banner from the windmill. But General Lake stormed the hill with 15,000 soldiers, the flag was town down and replaced by the English Royal Flag. Only the shell of the windmill remains.

July 10, Saturday, Day 4 Today is a busy day - after breakfast, we’ll make our way to the Hook Peninsula for a tour of the Hook Lighthouse. Hook Lighthouse is a unique example of an almost intact medieval lighthouse. It dates from the early 13th century and was a major feat at the time of its construction. It has served sailors and shipping for 800 years, apart from a short closure during the 17th century. It is thought to be one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world. Leaving the lighthouse, we’ll head to the Dunbrody Abbey & Castle, founded in 1170. The Castle garden is the resting-place for an intricate yew hedge Maze. Made with 1,500 yew trees, and gravel paths, it is one of only two full size mazes in Eire . . . .see if you can find your way out!!!!
Next, we’ll be stopping at the Kennedy Homestead &
Visitor Centre. The Kennedy
Homestead is a unique Cultural Museum and Visitor Centre celebrating this
family’s history like no other. The Centre graphically illustrates a story
of epic proportions, full
of triumph
and tragedy. Moving from steerage on an immigrant vessel to Hotel: Maldron Hotel in Wexford

Next we’re on to Midleton Whiskey for a tour and tasting. Journey through the history of Irish whiskey or, as it’s also known as, the “Water of Life”. The distillery started life as a woolen manufacturing business in 1796. Later this afternoon, we’ll be in Blarney for you to check out the Blarney Woolen Mills shops or for those that would like to see Blarney Castle before dinner. July 12, Monday, Day 6 This morning we’re headed to the Cobh Heritage Centre. The story of Cobh’s unique origins, its history and legacy are dramatically recalled at The Queenstown Story. Explore the conditions on board the early emigrant ships; learn about an “Irish Wake” and its connection to the ill-fated Titanic and Lusitania ships. Afterwards we’ll drive down to Kinsale for you to enjoy the afternoon exploring its narrow streets which all lead to the sea, dropping steeply from the hills that rim beautiful Kinsale Harbor. Kinsale is also noted as the “gourmet capital of Ireland”. So you should stop and have a bite at one of their pubs. It fits the picture-post card image of what a charming Irish seaport should look like with narrow, winding streets, well-kept homes, painted shop fronts, window boxes, street carts with colorful flowers, and a harbor full of sail boats. Take a walk up to Charles Fort, which dates back to the 17th century. From restaurants, to shopping, to exploring on your own . . . your day will be full enjoying this village.
