September 23, Sunday, Day 8 We head to Thoor Ballylee, summer home to Yeats, which has become his monument and symbol. It satisfied his desire for a rooted place in a known countryside where he lived with his life-long friend Lady Gregory. Living in a tower perhaps complemented his alignment with a tradition of cultivated aristocracy which he envied and with a leisured peace which he enjoyed. Next we head to Galway for a couple of hours exploration on your own: Lunch perhaps? Then we head to Roundstone, a beautiful fishing village, and Clifden, which is the largest town in Connemara. Today, the marble of Connemara can be found in many of the world's great monuments.
