June 6, Wednesday, Day 2

After breakfast, our driver/guide, Peter Clarke, will take us up to the majestic Cliffs of Moher for a magical view of Ireland.  Situated in County Clare and bordering The Burren area, the Cliffs of Moher are one of Ireland's most spectacular sights.  On a clear day, the Aran Islands are visible in Galway Bay as well as are the valleys and hills of Connemara. To the south of the cliffs is Hag's Head; the cliffs reach their highest point just north of O' Brien's Tower.   We’ll walk over to the Bunratty Folk Park for our evening Medieval Banquet.

June 7, Thursday, Day 3

We depart Bunratty this morning making our way towards Killarney.  This afternoon you’ll be able to go to the National Park & the Muckross House for a visit.   Afterwards you’re free to explore on your own.

This morning we’ll take the drive around the Ring of Kerry which has some of the finest beaches in Europe. Above all the Ring of Kerry provides an amazing insight into the ancient heritage of Ireland - see the Iron Age Forts and Ogham Stones, old monasteries and a landscape carved out of rock by the last Ice Age 10,000 years ago.

Hotel:  Muckross Park Hotel

Next, we’ll visit Mizen Head an award winning Maritime Museum and Heritage Attraction.  This authentic all-weather experience is a must-see with its spectacular location on high cliffs with swirling Atlantic Ocean tides. From the Car park and Visitor Centre, the Signal Station is a ten minute walk along the path, down the 99 steps and across the Arched Bridge (this just reopened 2011).  Mizen Signal Station had the first Radio Beacon in Ireland, 1931; the history of Safety at Sea communications is here

Kennedy Homestead

June 12, Tuesday, Day 8

After breakfast, we’ll make our way to the Hook Peninsula for a tour of the Hook Lighthouse. The Lighthouse is a unique example of an almost intact medieval lighthouse. It dates from the early 13th century and was a major feat at the time of its construction.  It has served sailors and shipping for 800 years, apart from a short closure during the 17th century. It is thought to be one of the oldest operational lighthouses in the world.

http://www.kennedyhomestead.com/images/yard1.jpgNext, we make our way to the Kennedy Homestead for a tour.  The homestead is a unique Cultural Museum and Visitor Centre celebrating this family’s history like no other. The Centre graphically illustrates a story of epic proportions, full of triumph and tragedy. Moving from steerage on an immigrant vessel to the slums of Boston, from the Court of St. James to the White House, and the golden era Americans refer to as "Camelot".  It was the birthplace of President John F. Kennedy’s great-grandfather, Patrick Kennedy and still celebrates the five generations of the Kennedy family.

 Hotel:  TBD

June 13, Wednesday, Day 9

After breakfast this morning, we’ll tour the Dunbrody Emigrant Ship.  The Dunbrody was a 19th Century three masted sailing ship that brought many emigrants from Ireland to North America during and after the Great Famine.

Next, we head towards Wicklow and a tour of Powerscourt.  It has some of the finest gardens in all of Europe.  Covering 100 acres at the base of the mansion built in the 1730’s by Viscount Powerscourt, Also part of the estate is Ireland’s highest waterfall just down the road.

Afterwards, we’ll be heading towards Cavan for the evening.
